Larsen trained as an upholsterer and Bender Madsen as a cabinetmaker, and both went on to study under Kaare Klint at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts. From the late 1940s they exhibited every year at the Copenhagen Cabinetmakers' Guild exhibitions.
